Former Adelaide United star Marcos Flores to fill Harry Kewell shoes at Melbourne Victory,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Flores, won the Johnny Warren Medal as the A-League's best player in 2010-11,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], has committed to the Victory for two years after a recent stint with Chinese club Henan Jianye.
The Argentinian will be the Victory's international marquee player, filling the club's last slot for an overseas signing.
"There is a new coach who has won two championships and wants to play great football he is bringing in some new players and new ideas and this is exciting for me,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Victory have many great players and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better.''
Flores played for the Reds in the 2010-11 season and after he left in 2011,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], crowd figures dipped to the lowest levels the side has ever seen.
United could not afford to re-sign Flores under the salary cap after he was let go by his former Chinese club Henan Jianye two weeks ago but two Adelaide businessmen offered to help fund the midfielder's return,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
With Flores now ruled out,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], United will still be on the outlook for a marquee playmaker for their 2012/13 season.
Victory coach Ange Postecoglou said he knew from experience coaching against Flores during his previous A-League season what a threat the 26-year-old could be.
"Marcos is the type of player you don't really want to come up against as an opposition coach,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],'' Postecoglou said.
"Having him on board with us now will be really exciting,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not only for the club but for our fans also.''
Postecoglou said it was a sign of Flores' quality that he had such a big impact in his first season in the A-League,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], given it normally took foreign players time to adapt.
Flores said it was an exciting time to be joining the Victory, with Postecoglou and a group of new players arriving.
"Victory have many great players and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better,'' he said.

This is the worst possible news for AUFC. Someone at the club has to be held accountable for this. First they sell our best player and the most loved player the club has seen, then they have the worst season on record with crowd numbers dropping significantly and then to top it off they dont get Flores back and lose him to the arch enemy????????????
