Lace up those sneakers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Seattle Parks and Recreation is hosting 18 walks around the city April 4 as part of the American Heart Association's National Walking Day.
Green Lake's Walking Day event takes place at noon at the Green Lake Community Center, located at 7201 E. Green Lake Dr. N. Parks staff will lead participants on a free 45-minute walk around the lake.

The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." The quote is especially apt for anyone wanting to start a regular exercise program. This National Walking Day offers the opportunity to make a commitment to healthy living and fighting heart disease and stroke.
Why? Because physical inactivity is a huge national problem. Seventy percent of Americans don't get enough exercise,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which means we're at greater risk for heart disease,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], stroke and other blood vessel diseases.
