Post Development Stages for Pomeranians
Development Stages for Pomeranians
As devoted dog owners, we should make it a point to see our dogs through the crucial stages in their development in order to ensure that they mature into dogs that have maximized their true potential. Once we acquire pups, it becomes our responsibility to cater to their needs in place of their mothers. As we all know, fulfilling this role is not an easy thing to do. The natural and instinctual care that mothers have to offer their pups is something we have to make up for with utmost devotion and of course patience.
In the case of Pomeranians, the crucial stages of development can span over quite a number of months. As with other dog breeds, anything that Pomeranians experience within this period will significantly affect their general disposition in life. Once this period has passed, it will be particularly hard for us, dog owners,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to modify any habits or behaviors. Hence, our best bet would be to pay as much attention as we can to our Pomeranian pups, as early as possible.
For the first month and a half, what Pomeranians need are food, sleep, and warmth. Ideally, they should not be separated from their mother and litter just yet. The reason behind this is that they look to their mother for security and discipline. In like manner, staying with the their litter helps them learn how to interact with other dogs.
1 - 3 Months At this point, your Pomeranian pups brain is fully developed. The focus should be on socialization. This is the time where they can be separated from their mother and littermates in order to get them used to people, other animals as well as various sights and sounds. Also remember that when it comes to interacting with Pomeranians at this age,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it is important to establish dominance. Let them know that you are the pack leader but dont scare them to the point of traumatizing them. This is the stage where every experience matters and habits stick.
3 - 4 Months This is where obedience training should begin. Consider this their adolescence period if you will. Be firm and stress the importance of discipline. However, do not overdo it as this can do damage to your Pomeranians character.
4 - 8 Months At this point, your Pomeranian should be able to recognize the basic commands. This would be a good time to move on to more complicated commands and tricks. Use positive reinforcement or the reward and punish method to help your dog learn new things. Remember this is the stage where dominants traits are established.
Though this timeframe for development usually suits all Pomeranians, remember that each dog is unique. Whats important is that you are open to possibilities and more than prepared to take on the lifelong responsibility of caring for your furry companion.
