The way the Department of Veterans Affairs awards disability claims must completely change,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Representative Bob Filner (D-Calif.) said Tuesday night. "20 years or so, the IRS was totally dysfunctional,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Filner,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a ranking person in the home Committee for Veterans Affairs. "Now,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when you filed your 1040 on April 15th, if you had reimbursement coming, you would get it back in 3 weeks, guaranteed." Just as with the IRS,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he argued, veterans' health care forms ought to be accepted subject to audit instead of needing to be approved. "Then they could get their check and obtain their life together, and move ahead immediately."
VA groups largely oppose Filner's plan,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], that they said happens because they are "tied in" to the present system and merely want to tinker round the edges.
"We want to discuss the glory of the war, how patriotic it's,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but we don't want to focus on the costs of war, what happens when these men and women come back," he explained. "We don't wish to pay an excessive amount of focus on it,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], since it undercuts what every government wants,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and that's support for that war it performs."
Filner knows exactly what the real problem is,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he's one of the few that has voiced it previously, but he's still in congress in which the peoples reps don't demand, when they rubber stamp wars of choice and costs of from the books and borrowed as the deficit had already begun rising using the quick wipeout of the surplus before 9/11! His idea of just doing subject to audits is okay but that just doin cash must emerge from the already decades long underfunded VA budget which takes it away from other needs long neglected and several ignored through the country!!
